On Friday 8th September 2017, Pathways hosted a street outreach between 3am and 7am in Medway with partner agencies to count the number of people rough sleeping and to invite people to engage with services further.
The partner agencies included Medway Council, AMAT, West Kent Lifeways and One Big Family.
Three groups went out to cover targeted rough sleeping areas that are known to agencies across Chatham, Strood, Rochester and Gillingham. 15 people were found to be rough sleeping on the night with evidence of at least one more in a tent and 2 people that were rough sleeping in a property that the groups could not gain access to. It is thought that there were other rough sleepers whose locations were not able to be found due to concerns about the H&S of the agency representatives.
Further counts and outreaches will be conducted in the coming months.
